Citroën C3
The Citroën C3 is a popular choice for city drivers, families, and anyone in need of an affordable, compact, comfortable supermini.
The C3 has been a common sight on UK roads since its initial launch in 2002. The C3 is now in its third generation, which was introduced in 2016 and received a mid-life facelift in 2020.
The latest generation of C3 has evolved to meet the demands of modern-day driving, with a new exterior design, a more comfortable interior and a range of new technology and equipment. It’s been a hit within the industry, winning “World Urban Car 2023” at the 19th World Car Awards.
When it comes to engine options, the C3 is available with two different petrol engines and a diesel engine, but currently has no hybrid model available.
Both petrol options are available as 1.2-litre engines, with the entry level PureTech 83 engine, and a turbocharged PureTech 110 engine with more power that’s able to make 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds. The diesel variant comes with a 1.6-litre engine that has a fuel consumption of up to 67mpg – ideal if you’re going to be doing a lot of motorway driving.
In terms of the different trims available, the entry level C3 YOU! is both impressive and affordable and comes with a wide range of features like LED headlights and a 5” infotainment system as standard. The C-Series is the next step up and includes alloy wheels, air conditioning and reversing camera. For those looking for a bit more in terms of in-car entertainment, the Citroën C3 Elle has a larger touchscreen and a more luxurious interior. And at the top end, the Shine Plus comes with all the bells and whistles – including integrated sat nav, a leather steering wheel, intelligent headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and advanced safety features.
The Citroën C3 is comfortable to drive, with light steering that makes easy work of manoeuvring through city streets and makes parking a breeze – but critics might say other superminis are more fun to drive.
Inside the C3, and you’ll find a cabin that is comfortable and spacious, but not without a few drawbacks – for example the infotainment system on entry level models feels a bit dated against competitors in the supermini category.
Citroën have taken safety seriously in the C3, with the latest generation coming equipped with features like lane-departure warnings and traffic sign recognition. In Euro NCAP tests, the Citroën C3 receives a respectable four-star rating.
In summary, the Citroën C3 is one for your shortlist if you’re in the market for a budget-friendly, stylish, and comfortable supermini. A range of engine options is available to suit different driving needs and it provides a comfortable, reliable ride. However, if infotainment and exciting driving dynamics are high on your priority list, you might want to explore other options.
