KIA Sportage
The Kia Sportage is a popular mid-sized family SUV that is ideal for families, city commuters, and anyone who needs a versatile car with plenty of space that is packed with modern features.
Originally launched in 1993, the Sportage has been a common sight on UK roads for 30 years now, with almost 2500,000 currently being registered across the country. The fifth generation of the Sportage was launched in 2021 with a new exterior design, LED headlights as standard and a more premium, modern interior.
The latest generation of Sportage has been a firm hit with experts in the industry, receiving positive reviews for its range of features and distinctive design, winning “Best Family SUV” at the 2023 What Car? Car of the Year Awards, and both “Readers Choice Award” and “Best Family Car 2022” at the News UK Motor Awards.
The Kia Sportage is available with a variety of different engines to suit all driving preferences. For those who prefer a more traditional engine, there is a 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 1.6 litre diesel engine available. For those who are more eco-conscious, both engines are available as a mild hybrid, and there is also a 1.6 litre petrol hybrid engine, and a plug-in hybrid
In terms of trims, the entry level model is the Sportage 2 which has some impressive features such as an 8 inch infotainment screen, parking sensors and climate control. The GT Line is the next step up, which comes with an increase in the size of the infotainment display, integrated sat nav and improvements to cruise control. The Sportage 3 adds a few more luxuries like heated seats and steering wheel, keyless entry and a reversing camera. At the top of the range there’s the GT Line S which offers 19 inch alloy wheels, luxury upholstery and ventilated seats.
The Sportage is a comfortable drive, with a raised driving position that gives a good view of the road. It’s easy to manoeuvre and surprisingly easy to park for an SUV. The interior of the Sportage has seen significant improvements in the fifth generation, and inside it feels more premium than you’d expect for the price. There’s also a generous 540 litre boot space, which expands to 1780 litres with the seats down.
With a wide range of advanced safety features as standard, even on entry level trims – it’s perhaps no surprise that the Sportage scores an impressive five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Overall, the Kia Sportage is a well-rounded, mid-sized family SUV that offers a range of engine options and a comfortable and well-equipped interior. So, if you’re in the market for a modern family SUV, the Sportage is worth considering
